ABOUT JULIE

The Julie Dunn Gallery features Julie's own Black and White Architectural Photography taken around the globe sold online and various locations showcasing her work.  Her clients are individuals who purchase her photography for their home and office art collections as well as designers and corporations for luxury residential, hotel, office and retail developments.

Living in downtown Charleston, SC makes perfect sense because her fine art photography gravitates towards old architectural buildings and water.  She is an 8th generation native from Charlotte, NC and lived in Atlanta for 12 years soon after she graduated from college with a business degree.  In Julie’s early 20’s she won a drawing for a top of the line SLR Canon camera and that is where her passion for photography began.

Throughout her travels she began taking photographs and found out her artistic ability she inherited from both sides of her family shined through the images she created.  Her passion for traveling and exploring new places around the world led to many photographic inspiring places for Julie.   With the love of the unique architecture of old buildings, Europe was a perfect place to create new images for her gallery.  In 2006, Julie went from Amsterdam to Prague, Budapest, the Greek islands of Mykonos and Santorini then ending in Athens.   Her Italian photographs have graced the set of daytime drama and Julie’s Carolina Barn series has been a favorite.  Her recent photographs of Charleston in the snow was unique to the “Low Country” because of it was the first time in 10 years this area had any snow accumulation.

In addition to her work as a fine art photographer, Julie is committed to making a difference to our world’s youth.  Serving two terms for six years as Vice President of The Shirley Ann Educational Foundation, a global non profit organization, Julie chaired a fundraiser to build schools in Africa, created a memorial fund dedicated to helping children through the arts and helped to launch SASEF's youth serving pilot project in Brazil entitled "Transforming My Dreams to Reality" which was documented by MTV/Brazil and by Julie in Brazil.   She also is collaborated and is still working with many more of SASEF’s projects and programs around the world.

Because of Julie's work as a philanthropist she is invited to such gatherings as the World Conference on the Development of Cities held in South America and The Leon H. Sullivan Summit VIII in Arusha, Tanzania to help develop Africa.

Locally in the United States, Julie introduced Global Philanthropy to the LEAP program in Charlotte, NC.  These middle school students attended a business enrichment summer camp and Julie as VP of SASEF introduced them to Global Youth Service Day, The United Nations Millennium Development Goals, Red Cross and organized a trip to the local recycle plant.

Julie is also a sustaining member of The Junior League of Atlanta and served for several years as the photographer for The Peachtree Papers, a quarterly magazine for the JLA while in Atlanta.  (Click PDF magazine article under Media to the right on this page.)
